Bomb Queen VII #3 Review

A futurist world where one can exist without a human form…
ShadowHawk is the super hero power that can be called upon for anyone to become him in the need of an emergency. Bomb Queen’s ability to control that aspect lands ShadowHawk in a world of trouble. Thousands were dead due to this and the world is calling for ShadowHawk’s demise. It’s time for this hero to step up and prove his worth by stopping the Bomb Queen and saving his good name. He’s got a long way to go as the Bomb Queen is not going down easily…
Robinson’s s world is full of all the things you would want in the future. The ability to download a hero’s ability and become him would be pretty neat, unless someone evil interrupted it.. The one who’s evilness is unparalleled is who he give this ability to… Bomb Queen. He gives her not only some really evil intentions, but the intelligence to be able to pull them off. I really enjoyed seeing her get the upper hand more than once.
Valentino’s art sets the scene for this world. His depiction of the Bomb Queen adds an irony to how someone so beautiful could be so evil. The action panels were really well done and the anatomy of his female characters is really hot, most specially the Queen herself. My favorite panel is the two page spread where ShadowHawk enters the containment area. Check out the full preview right here!
Only question I have regarding this issue is how in the heck did The Comic Bastards review quote end up on the cover and how can I get there???

The Manhattan Projects #3 Review
Step back into a science fiction based, WWII history lesson..
Some strange characters in this series. Feyman along with Einstein, Fermi, and Oppenheimer are a group of super scientist and each has his own rather strange uniqueness. They all gather and learn from President Roosevelt that the war is coming to an end. There mission is to convince the German scientist, currently working for the Nazi regime, to switch sides to America. Feyman draws the short straw on a mission to collect them. Upon his arrival he finds all but one of the German scientist dead from suicidal poisoning. The only one left standing is Werner Von Braun, the rocket god of Deutschland…
Mixed reviews across the board for this issue. I have to say that it doesn’t hold up to some of the series I have been reading and may not make it on my pull list next time. Not extremely bad but it didn’t keep my attention as much as I like. I’m not a history buff anyway and this issue seemed more like a history lesson than entertainment. The high point for me is the mass suicide of the German scientists and the evilness that Von Braun is portrayed as having.
Pitarra’s art is really cool. I think his characters are unique and I really like the robotic arm of Von Braun. I also like the depiction of Hitler. My favorite panel is the one with Hitler holding the flower. Check out the preview right here!
If time allows I’ll check out issue 3 but it needs to step it up a notch for me.. no offense to anyone who really enjoyed it though..

George R.R. Martin: A Game Of Thrones #7 Review
Another good installment of the famous novel’s transformation into comic book media.
Several plot lines are followed in this issue. Tyrion Lannister takes his leave of the wall but spends some time with the bastard son Jon Snow before he does. I liked this part of the story as it was the first real look I’ve had of the infamous Wall. It is a cold and dreadful place and I felt sorry for Jon for having to endure it. Arya Stark heart is broken at the loss of her direwolf. She seems to have her own mind regarding her status as daughter of the Hand and seems to be reprimanded for it quite a bit. She does get a bit of good fortune when her father allows her to keep a small sword. Even better is that he setup up some training for her with the former First Sword of the Sealord of Braavos, Syrio Forel.
Last of the plot lines focus on Brandon Stark. Finally out of the coma from his fall ( or attempted murder you might say), he learns that although he can’t walk, Tyrion has something that at least may allow him to ride!
Abraham has done a great job adapting this story. It is full of drama and a wide plot to keep it interesting. I find it a little boring at times though and hard to keep up with some of the characters. I suspect that there may be a lot of action ahead as the report of White Walkers being seen by local fishermen brings some insight to what may happen ahead.
One thing I can say about this that is not boring at all to me is Patterson’s art. The detail is exceptional and his attention to the setting really pulls you into the story. I really like the characters expressions but I favor the detail to the clothing the most. My favorite panel is where Tyrion is heading to the Wall and we get a glimpse of just how huge it really is. Road Rage #3: Dual Part 1 Review
The first two part issue of this series left me with a new fear for crazed truck drivers… This one multiplied it times 10!
You may remember the movie.. a salesman on a lonely desert road in the middle of nowhere is on a 3 day business trip. In a bit of a hurry so he doesn’t miss his first meeting, he comes upon an old dirty eighteen wheeler. If you’ve ever been behind one of these old trucks you know how bad the black diesel smoke smells. Well Mann, our lonesome salesman, can’t stand it and decides to pass the rig. That was his first mistake….
Wow, this issue was as suspenseful and intense as the movie. I was on the edge of my seat and really scared for Mann. Ryall does a great job of bringing the fear right in your face. I really liked his script and narrative. Matheson’s story around these chase scenes were conveyed in the script really well.
Garres’ art was great. That old grimy truck would strike fear into most people who had to go around it. I really like how Mann’s fear was brought out in his expressions to. Of course the road action was great as well. I learned a lot about how action lines add so much to the panels studying this one. Favorite panel is where the grill of this evil looking rig is bearing down on Mann’s car and blowing that loud air horn! Check out the full preview for this issue right here!
There has been a huge increase in road rage cases across the country. This series sheds light on how a lot of it happens!

Kirby Genesis #7 Review

This amazing series is drawing close to it’s end with this next to the last issue!
And the battle on Earth is intense. Captain Victory, Silver Star, the Primals, the Mythics and more are going at it with the Lightning Lady and Roag! The Lightning Lady’s bug army is a force to be reckoned with and the good guys have their hands full. Kirby pays no attention to the goings on though. His mind is set on getting Bobbi back at all cost. With reckless abandon he goes into the hive to search for her. There is much to be desired about his courage.
A great issue in this series for me. I really liked all the action that was taking place. Busiek’s script starts to bring this series to a close and I like the direction it’s going. The courage he gave to Kirby made me stand up and cheer. I’m excited to see which side will prevail and what becomes of Earth in it’s aftermath.
The art really shines in this issue. Of course it will though with Ross directing and working on it. He and Herbert really own these pages and give us several great panels to study. There are several new characters that have a great unique quality. I am in love with the vivid colors of these guys and the overall layout of the whole series. My favorite panel in this one is the full page panel where the battle rages on the hive. Check out the full preview for this one right here!
Don’t miss this issue if you’ve been reading this series as it really builds on the final issue!
